Quick post on some of the questions here:
- Pyrolytic
Pyrolytic ovens clean by heating to 500C for up to 3 hours depending on the oven and the degree of soiling.
They use energy in so doing but it's about €1 +/- and you're not BUYING Mr Muscle!!!
Also, how many of you have experienced odour contamination of food next cooked after chemical cleaning? It's awful.
Also, you don't have to do the cleaning yourself!
Another major advantage is that the pyro oven cleans all areas of the oven -even those hard-to-reach spots!
Pyro smoke:
This caused by infrequent use of Pyro feature or where one has had a grease spill.
Avoid by cleaning up any large fat deposit before starting pyro clean and pyro clean more often.
Pyro Microwaves
We've all experienced microwaves that are a biohazard after a few episodes of exploding beans etc! :) A pyrolytic micro is worth its weight in gold.
We did spend quite a bit on a kitchen refurb that included 2x Oven (One full, One compact w/Micro -but both pyro). Worth every penny.
Warming drawers are highly recommended too... you can even keep a 16" pizza in a box warm in them- but brilliant for getting plates ready while the ovens are preparing food. Yes, you can pop plates in the oven but they crack eventually.
Also great for heating croissants etc for a breakfast treat! Arguably the most under appreciated appliance there is.
Quooker:
Awesome appliance. End of. We have them at home and at office. Msg me if you have any questions.
Kitchens are horrifically expensive... but, if it's worth doing, worth doing right!
