We would like to get one in our new bathroom. Wall hung with a cabinet under, where did you get yours from and would you recommend it? I am thinking 2 basins rather than the large trough style like this
<a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=villeroy+and+boch+subway+double+basin&hl=en&sa=X&rlz=1T4GGLL_en-GBGB411GB415&biw=1264&bih=579&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=Qncgq84wHHexmM:&imgrefurl=bathroomstudio.co.uk/villeroy-boch-complete-range/subway-2-0-furniture/subway-2-0-furniture-unit-for-1300mm-double-basin/prod_6265.html&docid=27bhZS-WoDa0cM&imgurl=bathroomstudio.co.uk/images/uploads/Villeroy%252520Boch%252520Images/A69200.jpg&w=500&h=500&ei=S7AIT8SlPIXF8gOz0-nSBA&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=635&sig=108024912222979856652&page=1&tbnh=114&tbnw=114&start=0&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0&tx=64&ty=65" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">villeroy and boch

boarding school? Army? Prison?

Sad Sad

For a real statement I think two seperate units look so much better.
You have more to choose from then and you reduce the chance of it looking like a commercial bathroom like Piglet said.

vespalover · 07/01/2012 23:37

We got ours from bath store- two separate unit wall mounted next to them but with chrome pipes etc underneath. No storage but look fab.

beachyhead · 07/01/2012 23:44

I love those... we have them. But be prepared, they are very hard to hang on walls, my plumber and builder had a hernia when I said they were wall hanging.... so we ended up having a cabinet beneath them to support them.. the thought of three children hanging off them at tooth brushing time would surely pull them off the walls, with resulting water flow, wasn't worth it Smile

We have two basins. We only use one. I've been trying for years to get DH to use HIS basin but noooo he uses MY basin. I often think it would be really nice to have a big floor to ceiling cupboard in place of the other basin.

MrsJAlfredPrufrock · 07/01/2012 23:51

We have separate brains not that trough thing.

pootlebug · 08/01/2012 09:10

We have double sinks that were here when we moved in. Everyone uses the one that is nearer the loo tbh....other one never gets used. Unless you have lots of spare space in your bathroom I wouldn't bother.

partyhats · 08/01/2012 20:50

Thanks everyone. Beachyhead - I am a bit worried about that too but I do like the wall hung look.
We are turning a bedroom into a bathroom which is why there is a lot more space to fill than there would be.

What is the point of separate basins? Seems barmy to me. Mind you my aunt has two separate stand alone showers in her bathroom!!!

AwsomeMrsFox · 09/01/2012 20:18

We have the double trough version of the one in your link. Brilliant as we are not tripping over each other anymore and we have more clearly defined cupboard space. V&B are expensive but it looks beautiful, the finish is lovely. I agree with beachyhead though, they are hard to hang and we decided to add a couple of discrete legs under ours for extra support.

Actually I would have a double shower too if we had the space :-)

We got ours through a local bathroom place - shamelessly played 3 potential suppliers off against each other and you would be amazed how much they can discount for a quick sale :-)

partyhats · 10/01/2012 12:12

Thanks mrsFox. I didn't know there was a trough version, will look into that. Out of interest what other makes did you look at and how did the V&B compare price wise. They don't seem to have any prices online and the local supplier we went to is very cloak and dagger about giving us a price breakdown for the different items in the bathroom.
Zimm - I have 3 dc so I know it will be very useful for us getting ready in the mornings and bedtime teethbrushes!

We have a 700m wide basin which is useful when 2 children spitting toothpaste!

2 basins means twice the price in taps.....
