Anyone know Bradfield in West Berkshire?

Hi Everyone

We are looking to move for my OH's job. He'll be based in Theale and so I am looking for villages around this area. Bradfield has caught our eye as a nice place but not sure there is very much going on?

We have a 3 year old and when we arrive in March time, we'll also have a newborn.

Where we live at the moment we enjoy playgroups and music classes etc and lots of lovely friendly Mums for play dates. Is Bradfield the sort of place where a young family can feel settled?

Will really appreciate any thoughts.

I live in Newbury and have lived in West Berkshire for donkeys years. Do you mean Bradfield or Southend Bradfield? There is a difference between the two.

Btw there is loads to do in Newbury. Good schools and loads of baby & toddler activities. I have only been here 2 years but have made some great friends - I love it. Have a 4 yo, a nearly 2 yo and a 16 week old still cooking!

The house we are looking at is in Bradfield - i think it is quite close to the indep school Bradfield College.

Ideally wanted to find a house in a busy little village with a High Street and a few toddler and baby activities already set up but struggling to find the right house in the right village. Places like Pangborne have grabbed me because they seem to be active little villages but then of course they are in huge demand and so the sort of property we are looking for isn't there.

What would you say the main difference is between Bradfield and Southend Bradfield?

I would also second Newbury, lovely little place. I actually quite like Theale myself, but lived there many moons ago, so may well have changed since we lived there.

Puzzled over Bradfield for ages, then realised it's one of the UK's murder hotspots, second only to Midsummer but not as pretty.
