What kind of kitchen would look nice with terracotta floor tiles?

We have flooring throughout our dining room and kitchen which is a sort of terracotta tile, a bit like this tiles or this

At the moment we are replanning our smallish kitchen, which is off the dining room, so the floor would stay the same and we need to work round it.

What kind of colour units do you think would look nice with it? A lot of the pics I have seen have dark slate floors which seems to be the fashion, or floorboards.

I love quarry tiles but would stick with white or light-coloured units.

I saw a pale grey (slightly greenish grey) kitchen with these kind of tiles. Worked well.

Cream, white or blonde wood. My mum had a cream and blue kitchen with quarry tiles.

Thanks, that gives me some ideas.

The walls are currently a teal green colour which works quite well, but the layout works badly so we need a change.

I vote cream!

My parents have a kitchen with very similar tiles... their kitchen was actually custom built using old reclaimed waxed pine doors as the cupboard fronts but it's beautiful and really suits the floor. You need a pale work top though if you go down that route, they have white corian inset with pine trim to match the doors. They also have cream walls and dark blue provencal type print curtains. We had a Vogue photo shoot done in there once many moons ago :o

Sounds nice headfairy. At the moment it's with kind of old-style oak doors, the doors are fine, but the brass handles and hinges are a bit ott...
