White Shiny Laminate Flooring

I'm renovating a small Victorian terraced house on a very tight budget, and I am considering putting white gloss floors throughout. Has anyone any experience of this or know where to source it? I was originally thinking about walnut, but I really need something to reflect light.

It will be an absolute nightmare to keep clean - don't do it, you will see every hair, every speck of dust. How about a limed wood effect?

I have white tiles in the kitchen and have to mop EVERY DAY in order to keep them looking even half decent. Needless to say I don't mop every day and they look crap most of the time. For your own sanity don't do it

Agree, don't do it, you'll spend half your life cleaning it and the other half frowning at the dirt on it.

How about a very light maple wood colour?

If you need to reflect light, how about using Dulux light and space paint on all the walls?

I painted the floorboards in my bedroom white (ran out of money renovating) and they look lovely and bright. But they do look "weathered" rather than glossy white and a bedroom presumably gets a lot less wear and tear than downstairs rooms. Gloss would be a nightmare to keep looking good I would think.

We have white Amtico throughout the ground floor of our house and i find it really easy to keep clean because we have a huge doormat. We just sweep up any bits and use a damp mop once a week.

You can find some great Amtico bargains on Ebay as there's often leftovers from big commercial projects. We have just bought some pale grey for a house which we're planning on renting out too.

Hmm, thanks, a rethink needed. I'm definitely going with the light and space paint. I will have a look at maple and other light woods.

In a Victorian house I would go for painted floorboards if you want something light. It won't matter if they age a bit and get a bit scuffed. If you put down a pale laminate it will only deteriorate over time. Also with laminiate you need a really good underlay to make it look (and sound) good which is expensive.

My friend has shiny white and they are stunningly beautiful..... about once a month!! They show up EVERYTHING! We have walnut in our kitchen and I love it as it hides a multitude. I have it with pale cream gloss units and a cream composite stone work surface and still love it 5 years after installing it.
