We have a maximum budget of £210000. Just wondering whether I should be looking at houses only up to that ceiling or should we look slightly above that amount with a view to making an offer?

Sorry if daft question but never bought before so don't really know whether it's sensible to look at houses above our budget or not.

Thanks.

Hiya - it may depend on the area you're looking to buy in but generally houses aren't selling for their asking prices. I suggest looking up to about 10% higher than your budget, ie £230K. You need to at least see a few over budget to know how much they're worth to you and if they're worth any more money than the ones on budget.
It will also depend how long the houses have been on the market for - something new coming on the market for £230K may not want to sell for £210K - but one which has been on for 6 months or more may be more willing to take offers.
Good luck with viewings!
