Is it easy to lay underlay? Or should I leave it to the professionals?

I'm going to get carpet fitted in DD's bedroom - hoping to find a room sized remnant at one of the local carpet shops.

I'm wondering if I can save a bit of money by buying the underlay online and laying it myself. Is it easy to do well? I don't want to ruin the look of the carpet.

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for places to buy underlay online? Ebay? I've heard Cloud 9 11mm underlay is good but as you can tell, I know very little about carpeting!

Any advice much appreciated! Smile

yes but yes. they will do it very quickly and properly (if they are any good) and if they supply it should not cost much to lay.

buy it from B&q and roll it out, might need to cut it a bit to fit but really not that complicated. fitting the carpet is a job for a professional though.

I'm sure someone may disagree but it looked simple enough when my dad lay his own underlay. Tip - the bumpy side goes underneath touching the floor Blush
