Moving jitters!

Been on the market 18 months, had one buyer already that fell through. We had another offer 5 weeks ago which we accepted and apparently it's all going through but I'm scared it's not! I've rung the solicitor and agent every week and they say everything is fine but I've heard nothing else! Is this normal when selling and buying?

From personal experience, rather than ask the solicitor whether things are fine, ask specific questions about what has been done, what is outstanding etc.

I'm sure you can find out more specifics, but stuff like have the buyers had the surveys back, did the survey throw up any issues, etc. Have you done the questionnaire about what you'll take and what you'll leave and has it been passed back etc?

If you are working to an agreed timescale (e.g. exchange by x date) keep asking whether it is still on track and what else is outstanding. If you're not working to an agreed timescale, start trying to talk about one.

Thank you pootle, that's given me some pointers.

Ask the Estate agent as well - we found them to be better at liasing with the buyers to keep things moving than the solicitors. Great advice from pootlebug
