Bath seal question.

Just moved into a new house and there is no seal round the bath (knew this and was hoping to do it myself). The bath goes along a wall and one long side and one end will need sealed. However I notice that the bath doesn't seem to sit exactly flush against the wall - it goes from about just under 1cm away from the wall to tight against it as you go along the bath. There are some gaps in the plaster as well just above the side of the bath where a seal would go IYSWIM and you can see the bricks in the wall. Any ideas how to deal with this. I thought I could fill up the holes with some sort of squeezy plaster tube stuff (? pollyfilla) but how to deal with the bath not being flush against the wall in parts? Hope I explained this well enough - thought about putting a photo on my profile but camera still somewhere amongst loads of unpacked boxes Smile
