UCKFIELD?

We are looking to buy in East Sussex and hubby fell in love with a house in Ridgewood in Uckfield. I always got the impression it wasnt the greatest of places but maybe I am wrong? From what I can see there is quite a bit for children in the way of sports and clubs etc but I am slightly concerned about primary schools?

PLEASE anyone with any experience or advice especially about schooling let me know! Thanks x

I can't help with schools, but my grandmother had a house in Ridgewood for years - Uckfield's a funny place really. There is money around, but it never gives that impression, and it's always had a fairly odd high street; the train service isn't great and there are huge amounts of development planned between the A22 and Ridgewood itself. My grandmother's house sat on the top of the ridge on a private road of 3 large houses, with a spectacular view - which will be destroyed when the housing developments happen. I would check the local plans carefully, particularly if you are buying in Ridgewood. Personally, I think there are nicer parts of East Sussex to look at!

I've just google earthed my grandparents old house (to check whether it was the A26 or A22), and am so sad to see that all of my grandfather's years of hard work, making the most fantastic vegetable and fruit garden has been destroyed :-(
