We accepted an offer on 17th Nov, were asked on 24th if we could move by 15th December and are due to move out on 12th Dec.

It has been the most stressful 3 weeks of my life, our buyers who put this deadline on us have done nothing but faff around for the last week, and have driven both us and the agents mad. I shall be so relieved when it's all over.

Hope it goes smoothly. We bought (viewing to completion) in 5 weeks, and although very stressful, I really believe that a short, sharp period of stress was better in the long run than a long protracted conveyancing process!
Not long to go and you'll be in your new home and settled in time for Christmas.

We sold and bought in 6 weeks. To make things more complicated we had separate solicitors for the sale and purchases of our properties.
We were lucky in that a) we had a fantastic estate agent (how often do you hear that being said Grin) marketing our property. They kept in touch with us/our buyer/solicitors every step of the way and made sure that things were going ok with the purchase of our new property, even though they weren't marketing it.
b) I am a control freak, and even though we had a great estate agent selling our house, I was in contact every few days with both sets of solicitors making sure things were being done to suit me us. I don't think we could have turned it around any quicker, and loads of people were really surprised at how quickly we managed to move.
