Well, thats it, really!

Thank you so much to all those of you who have patiently read and posted on my ever more hysterical sounding threads about our journey to our new home.

Special thanks to mlm sp and cog and many more of you I have forgotten to mention I am sure.

Just goes to prove that it can all go pearshaped and things can look bleak but it can work out.

Best of luck to the rest of you still waiting/searching.

xx

Woop-woop!
Many congratulations! Feeling a little Envy as we were supposed to exchange last week ourselves, but things got held up... You enjoy your new house though!

cowboylover · 29/11/2011 22:14

Excellent news! I am sooo pleased for you all Grin

mylovelymonster · 29/11/2011 23:43

....and deep breath.......hold it.........and Relaaaaax............

Really pleased (and relieved) on your behalf. Look forward to hearing all about it and helping choose paint colours Grin

Those other houses you offered on - sold yet? Just curious.

Seagal · 30/11/2011 00:32

Well done.
Just the move, unpacking and maybe redecoration etc. ahead in ..... your new home!:)

Becaroooo · 30/11/2011 08:24

Thanks for all the good wishes!

mlm Nope! All 3 of the other houses we offered (and were rejected) on are all back on the market!!! AND 1 of them has gone back on at a higher price!!!

And another one has been taken off the market by the vendors (the original house we offered on)

Its a very very odd market out there atm...which is partly whjy we were so keen on this house as it was no chain!!!

seagal ugh...I cant believe I am having to do it all again - its only 4 months since the last move!

middle I can only advise ringing the EA and your solicitor EVERY day. I did and its the reason we are completing today Angry You shouldnt have to. but make them HATE the sound of your voice! Smile

That's amazing. Well done you for persevering and getting a great house. Am in awe Smile After the knockbacks and anxiety you've had, this is such a great end/beginning.
I guess those sellers may find a buyer at asking price, but what are the chances in this new economic climate?:/
Am about to start difficult negotiations myself. Don't feel too positive, but here goes!
Lots of luck with the move x

MLM Well, its been......ineresting Grin

I would have really struggled without the great advice and support on the MN property boards though. Its so great to be able to whinge chat to people who are going through the same thing!

All in all this journey has seen us though 3 different houses in 6 months, serious back injury (me) bereavement (my uncle) and several purchases falling through. Add to that all the arguments dh and I have had, and its not been much fun Sad

HOWEVER we have now got a house that
a) was no chain - this was important to us
b) we got £15 k off asking price
c) is larger than all the other houses we offered on (inc ones at the same price!)
and
d) we will be in for xmas!

So, I suppose if my story proves anything its that its worth it in the end....not sure I would have believed that even 2 months ago though!

There have been lots of things that havent helped....lying EAs, greedy vendors....makes a stressful situation so much worse.

I honestly dont know re: those houses. Several that have sold for asking are back on the market in the past 2/3 weeks so I am guessing either: securing a mortgage has been an issue (which the EAs should check prior to accepting the offer!) or they were time wasters. I feel bad for the vendors in question but at least 2 of those houses are vastly over priced....£250k for a 3 bed semi very like the one we sold for £130K???? Purlease!!!

Best of luck with your negotitions! x

Congratulations, I've also been following your posts! I also moved into my new house last month after an eventful journey and it was worth it. The only trouble now is that I want to buy loads of new stuff for it and need to stop spending!
Enjoy it.
