Question about obscure glass for the bathroom window

Our builder has asked us what sort of obscure glass we want in our bathroom.

I don't know. I want glass that is pretty but most importantly gives maximum light even if it frosted. I haven't even got a clue how to describe it and frankly, at this stage in the renovation, I'm so frazzled I don't give a rats ass about glasshave lost my powers of articulation about anything house

Any suggestions? It's not a big window

How about plain opaque glass? I think this looks most stylish, thouogh I'm not sure how it compares with others in terms of maximising light.

Personally I think Contora and stippolyte are the nicest in the range. Satin glass is also good if you want an all-over, sandblasted effect that's easy to keep clean.

Thanks both - CuppateaJanice, when they talk about degrees of obscurity regarding the glass - are they talking about the amount of light it lets through as well, or is this a different thing entirely

The glass is all clear but textured, so should let in an equal amount of light. The number is for level of obscurity, so with a level 1 glass you can see everything clearly through it, and it might just have a few ripples. I'd go for a 4 or 5 in a bathroom, as you probably don't want your neighbours to see you naked after a bath!!

symathies re your 'option paralysis'. We're five months into our project, we have florielle glass in the bathroom and minster in the porch. Both get compliments. Apparently Florielle very popular. Minster very plain.

if you are having a double-glazed window, it is normally assembled with the textured side facing the cavity, and the smooth side facing the room and the outside. This is easier to keep clean. The window manufacturer will probably have a limited range of glasses available for sealed units. The more heavily textured are more obscure.

If you fit cafe curtains as well as blinds, they can be put at a height to conceal your rude bits.

And sixtiesqueen - you totally sum it up. 'Option paralysis.' I am so tired of making decisions. I am, currently in the local bar, alone, having fled DH and DS, so I can have decision free drink time. But ta v much for suggestions.

Sixties Queen, just checked out your blog. Fabulous! What a load of space you have. I am jealous of lots of things e.g. double oven scenario, island etc - and I would never have been jealous before I started this renovation lark but now I know too much. We are renovating a terraced house which is / will be truly gorgeous but a compromise in terms of space. Anyway, I yearn for a day when someone doesn't need a decision from me.

We have cotswold in the bathroom and it's really lovely - reminds me of rain running down the glass.

But when we had out front door replaced recently we went for digital and I think I may like that more... not as opaque as the cotswold though.

Both let in lots of light - I don't think that really changes. We're in a terraced house too.
