Re-locating to Tunbridge Wells

Hi-it's looking like we may be moving. One of my areas of choice is Tunbridge Wells. Can anyone offer any "insider" info on the area? We would be particularly interested to know about primary schools, and which areas are nicer than others, also what are the train links to central London like? We've visited the area quite a lot and it does seem well suited to young families....Our budget is around £200k. Is this do-able for a 3 bed house?

For £200k you will be very hard-pressed to find a 3-bed property in Tunbridge Wells, and certainly not anywhere near the good primary schools! We couldn't find anything for £250k... (though we might have been a bit picky).

There aren't any really bad areas - some like Sherwood and High Brooms have a bad reputation because of lots of social housing, but it's not unsafe.

Trains to London are about every 15 minutes, commuter trains are always packed though and you might not get a seat.

Speldhurst and Langton Green primaries well regarded I gather (family in area) but I fear your budget won't go very far down there.

You could find something in Uckfield or Heathfield for around that price. I have a lovely 3 bedder which ive just sale agreed on for 190k. Bargain! We have great schools too! :)

And Op ,i would agress with others, £220K is likely to be insufficinet unless a major doer upper.

Yeah, no chance in Tunbridge wells with that budget. My house is supposed to be under offer, yet no survey booked as yet... Ill message you the link to my house dobby2001. :)
