After what seems like an eternity we have finally exchanged. We move on the 28th. Thank you all for your kind words and support. I'm sure I'll be back to ask your advice on kitchens, carpets, boilers and etc. The house has not been updated in 40 years. Gulp.

It was such a long drawn affair... I can only say that the solicitor is so important. My buyer's solicitor was completely useless. Even she said so. Good luck everyone!

Congrats DrCrab!
We have just moved into a house that's not been updated in 40 years, or quite possibly more, and have done a fair bit so standing by in case there's anything I can help with.

Oh thank you for your offer of help!! I don't even know where to start. Will be trying to make app with the new house to measure up for cookers etc. The owner of that house will be taking her cooker. Amongst other things......

Congrats! Hoping to complete on our 70's timewarp in the New Year and will need to completely renovate too.

I agree totally about having a good solicitor. Years ago when we were trying to move our buyer had a solicitor who only worked Mondays and Fridays!!!! I'm amazed we ever got to move. We did, though, eventually! Had to exchange and complete on the same day.
Anyway, congratulations on your exchange.

Well done you - I'm sure it will have been worth it all, and I hope the move goes well!
