We are about to update 2 bathrooms. What is the going average cost for a good tile (deally a larger type of tile). The bathrooms are pretty luxury so the tiles need to be of similar quality. What do you think cost is on average for high quality tile? Thanks

We decorated 4 bathrooms with very good quality cheapest tile we put in was £7/sqm, most expensive was £300/sqm. Cheap ones look great, as do the expensive ones...I just picked the ones I liked with a mind for keeping the costs reasonable overall. Lots of tiles seem to sit between £30 - £60 sqm, quality sometimes seems subjective when it comes to tiling. Look out for pattern repeats and poor printing on porcelain.

I would say £30-£50 is about right

And don't forget to factor in other costs such as tile adhesive and edging strips.

Contact the potential tiler before you buy if you are planning on getting someone in. Ours pointed us at a shop on an industrial estate in the next town where we got 10% off just for the fact he was our tiler. Can't remember how much they cost but he did a fab job and the tiles are lovely and very good quality.

For a good quality tile, I would expect to pay £40 - £60 per square metre, probably closer to £60.
