Bathroom floor - what kind of varnish?

We decided against vinyl in the end, builder has put down nice new floorboards as the old ones were rotten to heck, so want to stain and varnish. He suggested 'yacht varnish' but I can't work out if he means literally the stuff for boats, plus quite a few people say it's too slippy for bathroom floors. However, the stuff we had on the floor in last house which was meant to be super sturdy (sadolin traffic water based) but was rubbish, wore away quickly and seemed to come off when washed so not ideal for bathrooms!

Ideally we'd like something that will stain the floor dark at the same time. Any suggestions please?

Ronseal Diamond hardfloor polyurathene. Satin (not gloss), will not look so shabby if you ever walk on it or spill anything.

I'd strongly recommend dying the floor to your colour first, using Colron. If you use a tinted varnish/stain ther colour will vary by thickness of the coat; both by how much was on the brush when you applied it, but also as wear makes it thinner. If you later touch it up or recoat, the depth of colour will look patchy.

it will not show marks so much; it will not be so slippery for wet feet; you will not feel compelled to polish it; and some people think the "toffe-apple" finish looks frightfully common
