Ikea 'Malm' matching wardrobes - they don't exist!

We have Ikea Malm chests of drawers and fitted wardrobes in our current house. We're about to move and need to buy wardrobes for our new bedroom and I've realised that there are no matching wardrobes in the Malm range (medium brown).

Can anyone recommend wardrobes that would go with the other furniture or should we just start again with the whole lot? Am a bit cross with myself that I didn't check this when we bought the drawers, but it didn't even cross my mind!

P.S I am quite anal so couldn't get the Malm wardrobes in a different finish. Plus would prefer sliding doors.

Thanks! Grin

Check Ebay

So they never made them? How odd.

We have a full set of Ikea bedroom furniture was sure it ws malm but ours is light coloured (beech perhaps?) I do know the extra wardrobe we got didn't quite match the other one we had but we can cope.

I know Crissy I realised recently that my sister has the oak coloured furniture and they have the wardrobes. I just assumed we could get matching stuff, but clearly not. It seems they recommend the Pax wardrobes, which come in a similar brown. Will need to have a wander round to compare (but at 9 months pregnant am struggling to muster the motivation Grin)

Oh heck you will be struggling love! Hope you get some. Or maybe a contrasting colour?

Have just had same dilemma. Gone for Pax Nexus oak veneer in end. Hope it'll look okay.

WE had the Stanley sliding doors wardrobes fitted (B&Q etc dothem) in Walnut and they match malm oak really well.

They did make freestanding malm wardrobes but they discontinued the range some time ago. Try eBay like somebody else suggested occasionally they have them :)

Truffkin · 16/11/2011 17:35

Thanks all, I think I have found some sliding door freestanding wardrobes in Homebase that are similar enough in colour so just need to get there to have a proper look. There are also a few options in B&Q and (of all places!) Tesco Direct as well as a couple of online stores that seem to have walnut / dark brown coloured wardrobes.

Will check ebay too just in case they have the real deal Grin

I have the drawers too in oak Im sure when I looked that they did matching wardrobes but you have to buy the doors and back part separately. I brought this wardrobe from argos. The oak matches the malm one perfectly but the doors are traditional and not sliding.

Truffkin · 16/11/2011 18:24

Sorry, I thought I had said that we've got the dark brown drawers and they don't do the wardrobe in that colourway. They do the oak finish, so matches perfectly! We went for dark brown as have a solid walnut bed and wanted to be matchy - I am anal, I'm comfortable with that Grin
