Kid's writing on the walls - isn't coming off even when I paint over it! Help!

I'm tarting up the house ready for rental. The kids have drawn all over the walls (actually it was someone else's child but thats another story).

I figured I would just paint over it, but it keeps showing through. I am painting white which I suppose doesn't help but its too late to change the colour scheme now as its practically finished in other respects.

Any tips? Even sanding down doesn't seem to be helping much. Don't think prospective tenants will be impressed with the toilet humour either.

Help?!!

you can but Stain Block at paint shops, it is like a white undercoat. On a wall you may need to flat it off with fine sandpaper when dry so that the texture does not show through (it is quite thick).

On wooden surfaces you can sand off and use Aluminium Wood Primer which seals oil, knots and stains.

"you can buy" not "but"

Yes, stain block is what you need. I have a vague recollection that you can seal it with something like an eggshell paint but I can't remember exactly.
