We are about to buy a new carpet for hall and stairs. Can anyone advise what sort of carpet is least likely to be scratted by cats!? Hmm

It depends on your cat. My cat loves rattan, but has never scratched a carpet.

You have to catch them at it, then give them hell.

I am thinking of buying a couple of large water pistols and keeping them at the top and bottom of the stairs then letting rip if even a claw is outstretched! We have a horrid cheap carpet down before and they ripped it to shreds and the corner of the bottom stair. They don't seem to bother with the carpets in the other rooms so much. Strange beasts. Grin
