Everest for double glazing - yay or nay?

So good old Mumsnet did well in advising me not to buy my carpets from Carpetright (and saved me over £1000 in the process!).

This time the question is should I buy my double glazed uPVC sash window from Everest?

The other similar windows in our house are Everest but were installed many years before we moved in. They are still fine now mind.

How are Everest in terms of quality, price and peace of mind? Should I shop around a bit more?

They are good quality, but IMO pricey. It has to be worth getting some quotes from other companies who are maybe local rather than national as they will not have the same expensive advertising and admin budget overheads built into the price of your window.

Local companies every time for windows. They're less likely to do the hard sell.

Good advice as ever. One phone call seems to have saved me about £800! Next time I won't need to ask!

You must use a FENSA registered installer or you will have to obtain building regulation approval from your local council.

Currently having Everest fit my windows, and they're THE WORST.

Supposed to be an easy, one-day fitment. To date, the installers have failed to show up FOUR times. No exaggeration. Appointments booked weeks in advance. I've taken EIGHT days off work to wait at home for them. Plus two evenings to meet with the sales guy and one afternoon for the survey. Each time they fail to show I have to call their office 2 or 3 times before they'll get back to me.

Still one window that they haven't finished installing, so I can't open. Looks great, but is essentially a glass wall.

DISGUSTING customer service.

800 off is nothing, for our whole house Everest quoted 28000 we got it for 14000 with an amazing local firm. Get lots of quotes and personal recommendations if you can.

I think the OP may have sorted her windows in the last 5 years
