Is it easier to replace bath taps than fix them?

My cold tap has been playing up for a while, it's got to the point that hardly any water pours out.

The taps are old and manky and I wondered if it might be as well to replace them both?

I'll have to do it all myself, with basic tools-what would you do?

it's pretty easy to replace taps but you will probably need a basin spanner (you use them vertically)

you can buy bath taps pretty cheaply but if you want them to match your sink you will probably want to replace both

modern taps tend to have ceramic discs rather than washers which are easier to sort if they go wrong

I have a basin spanner and nothing in my bathroom matches, so no problem with that. [hgrin]
