Washing machine not filling

My cold water fill washer has stopped filling. Before I call someone to poke at it I thought I would give it a clean out and see if there was a blockage anywhere. I had some work done in the house recently so I'm wondering if some dust as lodged in there.

So to the question: where would you be scrubbing? Do you think removing the fill pipe and checking and removing the drawer and giving a good clean to the fill 'nozzle' is as much as I can do? I'm not afraid to have a go, but I've not played with a washer before:)

Thanks in advance for any advice and ideas:)

Has anyone been rummaging about in the sink cupboard and turned off the water? Sometime there are teeny tap/switches that get knocked.

Or if the washer has been moved you may have a kink in a pipe, could be the in one or the out/drain one, I have a feeling most machines won't fill if they cannot drain....but how they know, is a mystery to me.

I know there are no kinks as I dangled over the back of the machine to check earlier (easier said than done when you're fat and seven months pregnant...)Grin I'll check the infill tap doodad though, thanks for that idea:)

Right, away to bed to have hopefully helpfully plumbing based dreams >_

If you turn the tap off under the sink where the hose connects to the water supply, put a bucket under the other end and disconnect it from the machine, there should be a filter in the end of the pipe which can get blocked - you can remove it carefully and clean it if so. You could also turn the tap back on with the pipe in the bucket - if the water flows OK into the bucket then the problem is in your machine. Hope that helps (and hope it makes sense!!) :)
