Any advice on marble flooring?

My dh and I are currently having a kitchen extension into our attached garage and are trying to decide on flooring, we currently have non slip lino which I hate [hsad] as the dirt gets inbeded in the rough surface. We love marble and found two that we really liked, one polished and one honed. Can anybody tell me if they have something similar and if it is slippery / hard to clean / etc. We will have under floor heating installed so hope this will stop it being cold. We have two dd (3 and 5). Thanks in advance.

Marble is very "soft" and stains easily...coffee and other things do mark it and you can't just slosh some Jiff on...you have to use a good cleaner made for the purpose...sometimes stains have to be "drawn out" with a poultice...

It can also scratch and gouge quite easily. I wouldn't have it myself...too high maintenance with small kids about!

We have a limestone tile, which is similar to marble, in our kitchen/ dining room. It looks lovely, and is very hard wearing. However, the sealant now needs to be re done and I cannot work out how to do it, as it needs to be cleaned first. (It doesn't show the dirt in general. I have had mine for 3 years with minimal cleaning).
I think the overall look should compensate for any disadvantages though, and the initial sealant will cope with most things. I spilt melted chocolate and it wiped up without a problem.
Ours is quite matt; given my time again, i would go for a more wipeable surface.

We have polished marble in our kitchen with underfloor heating. It looks and feels a million dollars.
we bought a polishing machine for about £80 which we use once or twice a month the rest of the time I just sweep up or hoover! I dont do mopping!!!
Tea stains around the bin from teabags need abit of soak but otherwise stains come out.
We bought our tiles from marble moziacs in Sussex. The choice and price were good.
The tiler matched all the veins up and kept the best pieces with quartz to put pride of place.
we even have one tile that has a shell type fossel in it which looks like an ice cream cone.
We bought crema marble and I absolutly love them.
They are ice cold in the summer which is so cooling and warm as toast now with the underfloor heating on from 6-10am at 22degrees the rest of the day they stay around 19/so degrees.
When the kitchen was first fitted it was the tiles I kept pointing out to visitors not the cupboards or the granite!
