how do i find out who used to live here?

Just that really. Is there any way of finding out who lived in this house before me?

I met them briefly but can't even remember their names.

BTW they were tenants rather than owners if it wasn't difficult enough already!

Old electoral rolls? Or ask the neighbours?

Electoral rolls is a great idea. They must have been on it cos I received polling cards for them just after we moved in.

Don't suppose you know of a website I could use - sorry, I'm not being lazy - on my phone and its not the easiest to use!

I don't know how you'd go about it actually, but I suspect it's a case of consulting paper records at the local council?

You could try here although if they opted out of being on the edited list, as I do, then they won't be on it - and it costs.

Census records? I think the 2001 results are available online, but I don't know about 2011.

No, census results aren't released for 100 years! I think the latest one is 1911!

Doesn't show up on 192.com so off to the council offices tomorrow to see if they can point me in the right direction.
