Anyone DIY-ed repointing

some of the pointing has fallen out/loosened on the house. Not all over, just small isolated areas. Has anyone tackled this themselves? I'm pretty good with tiling and filling holes in plaster, so wondering if I could do a decent job.

Hi I've done re-pointing. Clearing out old mortar to about 1 cm depth is a pain (not great time of year either for getting mortar to set in dry weather/frost free). You also have to be careful not to get your mortar on the bricks where you don't want it - it won't wash off without leaving staining.
Make sure you get a fairly stiff mortar mix. Good luck with it - bet you'll be far more careful than a 'pro' would be.
