Question about garden rubbish.

Hopefully just about to purchase flat - very excited as have been trying to get out of current place for years! But just realised I have no idea about a lot of things. One is that I will have a little garden but it does need a bit of tidying up - what do you do with pulled out weeds, old bramble bushes and thorny type bushes, stones, grass from the lawn mower etc - do they just go in the green wheelie bin in a strong bag? When I was small we lived right next to woods so I think everything just got chucked over the fence and sort of blended in but I'm assuming that my new neighbours may not appreciate this sort of behaviour

Hi, it depends on your council. Have a look at the council's website and look for 'green waste' and it should tell you. It differs greatly across the country! Where my in-laws live (out in the country), the bin men take anything. We live in London and our borough specifies that green waste can only be bagged up and taken to specific locations on weekends to be disposed of. We have a rather long garden, which the owner obviously did nothing to once they sold the place and it took us MANY trips to dump the 15 or so bags of green waste we got from the clear out when we moved in. Of course I have no idea how rigidly they enforce this! Our bin men is rather picky though and did not pick up the 'for sale' sign we tried to leave for them! That's another sort of waste so I hear... Good luck with your purchase!

Yes it depends on the council. If you're out of the city can you burn it?

You could bag it all up and take it to the local tip.

We have a brown bin for garden waste (apart from soil) which is taken by the bin men every other week with the green bin (household)
