Any advice or recommendations for removal companies in north London and Herts areas?

I really like going on recommendations best if I can.
I'd appreciate any advice on how other people choose.
The whole house moving thing is melting my brain and all these decisions are making me want to burst into tears... pathetic and irrational I know!

Get several quotes, but I found Clarks of Amersham wonderful. Very professional and extremely organised. They weren't the cheapest but they weren't the most expensive either. Good luck!

Diamond removals

they probably are the cheapest (as acknowledged by a rival who came round to do a quote!) but I have used them 3 times and know 4 other people who have used them and have been very happy with them

The Old London Moving Company are based in Hertfordshire and we have used them twice, once within Herts and secondly to relocate 300 miles away. Happy with the service on both ocassions. The more information and detail you give about your requirements/expectations from the very start, the better deal you will get. Communication, communication!

thanks very much, I appreciate your advice will check them out.

Simply Removals. NO ONE could beat their quote.

heroinahalfshell · 05/10/2011 16:06

PS - and they moved Dave and Sam into No.10 :)

mrszimmerman · 05/10/2011 16:08

surely I can't afford ANYTHING those two have used??!!

heroinahalfshell · 05/10/2011 21:16

Well they are moving us 300 miles tomorrow for £700 :)

Arghh. Bloody iPad

Rogers removals

diggingintheribs · 05/10/2011 22:42

Pah, Diamonds will pack for you and do the move for less than that!

Anyway, good luck with the move!!

heroinahalfshell · 05/10/2011 22:50

Diamonds quoted £950 :)

heroinahalfshell · 05/10/2011 22:50

PS - without any packing service

diggingintheribs · 05/10/2011 22:53

no way! - I never paid that much (although DH is a master haggler!) and neither did my friend who just moved (believe she paid £250 without packing)

Maybe it's a distance thing - we never moved very far

Anyway, I'm sure you've had enough recommendations to get the job done!

heroinahalfshell · 06/10/2011 13:44

Oh DEFINTELY a distance thing. Our move is a 600 mile round trip for them!

diggingintheribs · 06/10/2011 19:39

yes - ours have averaged 500m!

mrszimmerman · 07/10/2011 12:19

I've just had a quote from a removal firm who said I should look online some of the poor reviews SimplyRemovals have had online.
There seems to be a mix of great and slightly dodgy reviews.
How do other people rate these online review sites?
I always wonder whether they're open to abuse by competitors!

Amber Moves - excellent family run business.

heroinahalfshell · 16/10/2011 09:41

mrs - our move went perfectly with SimplyRemovals last Thurs :)

RosiethePriveter · 17/10/2011 20:45

Another vote here for Rogers Removals. It wasn't the cheapest but I can honestly say my move was stress free. Look at all the feedback on their website.
