Touch lamps lighting by themselves - can they be fixed or should I bin?

My touch lamp occasionally turns itself on (very annoying at night as it is my bedside lamp). It's not dust or insects or a curtain touching it or anything like that - just a fault. It's about 3 years old so not under guarantee. Is there a cure or do I bring it to the tip? Thanks!
