Letting house as a photographic location

Hi, not sure if this is the best section for this question, but lots of questions coming up!

Has anyone done this who can give me a rough idea of what to expect in terms of payment, treatment of the house etc?

Is it safe to stick to stills shoots as opposed to film/TV shoots (who might trash the place?!)

Does anyone recommend (or not...) a particular agency, or know how much to expect as payment?

Any other tips, anecdotes or advice?

It depends on what your house offers. First of all it needs to be big enough to be used for a shoot. Even on a small shoot you can easily have ten people who all need to be there. Then you need space for professional lights, stylists, make-up people etc.

How much you get will depend on where it is, how it is decorated, the furniture etc. This can work two ways - you either provide a 'blank canvas' so the crew can decide how they dress the set and use various props, or you have a very specific look, eg your whole house is fitted out in a 70s style.

The more variety you can offer in terms of shots the better. A shoot for a magazine will often be three or four different shots so you would need to be able to offer three or four different backgrounds.

Photography shoots pay less than film/tv.

An editorial shoot in London will get you from £400-£1000 for a photography shoot. Film/TV/advertising will be more but I don't know what that is likely to be. You would then pay an agency fee on top of that.

Think photography shoots are more up my street as they sound more predictable in what will happen to the house compared to film/tv...

It's a very modern & minimal in terms of house, with a few large rooms as opposed to lots of them - but in a rural setting, so quite specific I suppose, maybe I'll have a look on some websites for a gap fro a house like this.

A few hundred for a days inconvenience would be very welcome!
