Removing double sided carpet tape...How!?

Just lifted a few carpets and removed all the wooden battens and underlay. As well as being nailed down, the battens were also laid on top of double sided very sticky adhesive tape. The tape is stuck to the floorboards on the bottom side and has a fine coating of underlay rubber on the top side. Anyone know how to get this stuff off the boards? Have tried scraping but it has a fresh chewing gum/chewit consistency and have also tried evostik solvent adhesive remover which might work over a period of days or weeks. Anyone else found a better method?

I used WD40 and an old credit card. Had to let it soak in tho!
