Too good to be true? craigslist short term rentals in London

Does anyone know about the short term rentals on craigslist at all? There are ads like 2-bed apartments (great pictures) for 55£, 60£ etc per night in central London, Kensington and so on. It seems weird because longer term rentals and serviced apartments cost far more than that. We need a place short term and these look great, but could they be a scam? Of course, you can't see the places in advance and you do end up giving money to someone you haven't met, typically. But surely if they were a scam craigslist would have stopped it by now. Any thoughts?

Yep, afraid it's a known scam. There's no apartment, they just take your money.

Yeah, if it was just a few posters, I'd definitely think it was a scam. But there are so many of these and the prices are in the same range... It seems like that whole subsection of craigslist must be scams then, if these aren't real. But if they are real then why are they so much cheaper than longer-term weekly rentals? hmmm....

ok, yes, thank you both. definitely a scam, at least the one guy we actually wrote to - figured out his IP address is in Nigeria! (among other suspicious signs). probably lots of the others are too; no reason there can't be loads and loads. ok, feeling kind of stupid now, but not as much as if we'd actually sent anyone any money :)
