Cleaning carpets, before or after removal men

hello,

Hopefully we will be moving in a couple of weeks.

The owner smokes and so the house although decorated really nicely smells! She has very light cream/ivory/White carpets which do need cleaning, and I'm thinking the smell probably sticks to the carpets and curtains, so I'm thinking about getting them cleaned before we move in. Dh has just said he reckons we should get them cleaned once the removal men have finished as they will make the carpets dirty with their boots...

Any views on what order we should do the cleaning???

Clean before furniture arrives - you can get at everything, and in half the time!

Dirty boots are a relatively trivial issue in this case.

Agree with neversaydie. Dirty boots can easily be hoovered up with a normal hoover or spot cleaned.

Or you could buy the heavy duty plastic that can be stuck down. It is used instead of drop clothes when painting. It has a adhesive side so it won't shift when walked on.
