Has anyone had a new boiler fitted recently ?

we are in the south east and I was wondering what the expected cost is? And if anyone knows any nice plumbers :)

It's not fitted yet but we have just agreed to pay £1700 to have a new boiler fitted. We are just waiting for the plumber to tell us when he can do it. I am in the North West though so may be a lot cheaper than where you are.

£1600, in the midlands. Don't know if our plumber travels...

In the SE- just got one- small Worcester Bosch- for £2000 (inc vat) other quotes were higher ((£3000 inc vat) Mine also comes with 6 guarantee inc in price provided I pay for annual service I am very happy with this

I'm in the south east and I was quoted £3000 from a big firm. I used a plumber in the end who charged me £500 for labour and £1000 was the cost of boiler with parts. I'm happy because I saved myself 50% plus it is a better boiler than the one in the original quote!

My mother (SE Wales) had one fitted by British Gas - £2500 all in.
Buy a good quality boiler. This was a condensing boiler.

British Gas are doing a deal - £400 money back on the old boiler if you go for a Worcester Bosch. This might be worth looking at?

Hi twinky, in the end I didn't buy it online the plumber bought it from a heating/plumbing shop for me to save time but it still came in cheaper than I would've paid and about 50-100 more than online not sure exactly because he included some parts. For convenience I bought it from the shop. The big well known shops were still charging hundreds more. It was a vaillant ecotec plus 31.
If you do go online Plumb nation looked quite reputable and they price match but I didn't try them, they have good reviews though. Good luck

We're in London and paid £1800 for new Vailant combi boiler, radiator valves, power flush etc.

I wouldn't recommend British Gas, the price you pay in the end is usually far, far higher than the offer price they reel you in with.

We got 4 quotes, one from a mate and they have all come in at £3000 ish inc vat and power flush, new thermostats and they are getting rid of old back boiler, putting in new pipes. We live in a ramshakle piece of shit period home so maybe that is why? we are in SW.

It is a valiant boiler with a 10y warranty and the prices is fixed so will cover any incidentals. We were quoted £4500 by British Gas!

Had the same problem HouseofMirth with Pimlico it was higher in the final quote than what he discussed with me. You paid a very fair price for London.

Apparently BG is cheaper than Pimlico but 4500??? How big is your boiler gapants?

Gapants, maybe because you are replacing everything including pipes etc

pink we live in a smallish cottage. I think it is because the current system we have is very very old and we have a rather fetching 1960s fake coal "real fire" type affair that needs to be taken out before they can even get to the boiler.

It is such a wad of cash though. Wish I could just piss it on a lovely holiday instead.

we paid about £2500 I think - it all depends on the size of the boiler and amount of pipes that need replacing etc, so hard to generalise.

I agree with avoiding British Gas - their quote was twice as much as the nearest rival, and they quoted for loads of unnecessary work which they insisted was essential, like rearranging the kitchen because it was "impossible" to access the boiler in its existing position, Needless to say all the other firms managed just fine accessing the current position. British Gas would have charged us to relocate the boiler and replump and we would have been left with huge holes in our work top and needing new cupboards, replastering and redecorating and reflooring all at our expense.

We just had a Valiant fitted as part of a rebuild so I had no details on cost but it is whisper quiet and the megaflow we've had fitted keeps water hot forever - having moved from a 1960's heating system I think I may be in heaven looking forward to a toasty thermostatically controlled winter.

worcester combi,plumber got it for 900,total cost,new kitchen,about 2k.very pleased with it,took out hot water tank and have loads more storage.

I'm in surrey and had a new boiler fitted a few weeks ago. I had boiler installed plus a power flush for £999.
Combi boiler, don't know the brand off top of my head, but am really happy and the guy who did it is lovely.

Gapants My parents very old electric storage heaters are being replaced by British Gas for free along with their boiler. The total cost of everything would be about 4.5 grand. (sorry pound sign not working). It is because their current heaters are over 25 years old. They are in their 70's though so that might also have some bearing on matters. Will see what I can find out.
