Anyone used dulux light and space?

we have extended our house and have an 'orangery' extension to our living room which is north facing. The extension has a roof lantern and is very light, but the living room seems dark in comparison- I was thinking of changing the paint colour between the two areas to compensate.

Would this work? The orangery part will be F&B Skylight as it connects with the kitchen and I want them the same, can anyone recommend a colour for the living room from the light and space range or should I not bother?

My brother used it in his hallway of his flat.... IMHO complete waste of money ... Any decent White / light colourered paint would have had the same effect but probably with better coverage Sorry !

I have used this Dulux paint to good effect. ocean Breeze and first frost would seem to be the toning Colours to the F+B. Not sure about either in a North facing room....these seem to be haunting me!
I realize that the previous poster has had bad results with this paint. I would also suggest light colored flooring and mirrors in the living room. there is a technical term for this effect, but it is too early in the day for me to remember it! It is because the extension is so light that the other room seems dark.

I know 2 people who have used it and both said it was a nightmare to use and the coverage was rubbish. both wished they'd gone with standard and have strongly advised i don't use it!

We used Ocean Breeze in our kitchen and it looks fab. So many people have commented on what a lovely colour and how it has transformed the room and there is so much light in there. Some even thought we had an extra window put in when we hadn't!

7to25, I have seen the other threads re north facing rooms, thanks for answering mine you obviously have a lot of expertise!
I would love to know the technical term if you remember it, you are right it is a relative effect.

I might try a contrasting warmer colour like the soft coral or desert wind...

I used - I think - Ocean Breeze in our kitchen and I think the light effect really does work. But it took four coats! Four! I am also not quite sure whether the same light effect would have been achieved with just some light F&B or whatever - the kitchen was a grim hospital green when we moved in, so anything would have been an improvement. It is now like a different room.

blimey, we have the whole house to decorate so anything needing more than 2 coats will drive me round the bend!

so far we have only done 3 ceilings- with dulux trade white supermatt which has covered brilliantly in 2 coats.

We've recently done our hallway, stairs, and landing in first forst and love it. DH didn't mention any difficulty with it or the coverage. That might have been because the walls were newly plastered and white-washed beforehand though. It looks lovely and light and airy.

Don't bother. Tried it in Ds teeny tiny room and it's done nowt more than white paint would have.

Just bought some of this on a special offer deal and almost returned it after reading reviews of poor coverage but, actually, I found it OK. Used two coats on white. If painting over a strong colour I would definitely slap on a coat or two of cheap white emulsion before starting on the posh Dulux.

Used coastal glow in a north-facing room. It's a lovely warm colour and had lots of positive comments but I honestly don't know if it's made that much difference in terms of improving on the light.

Also bought desert wind to use in a dark stairwell but not tried it yet.

Nordic Spa in the office. Nice colour but not sure if it made it much lighter than an ordinary one - no way of knowing?

Coastal glow in our bedroom looks great and would rate it. It sort of sparkles.

We used desert Wind in our bedroom and it is lovely - the walls sort of glow a bit. We used Absolute White elsewhere (the room directly under the bedroom, with the same amount of light coming in from the same direction) and it didn't look any different to ordinary white. So I think it is as much about the colours as the location.
