Can I trust my solicitor?

I am buying a house and my solicitor has asked me to transfer the money into his company account to make the purchase.

I think this is normal but please assure me - it is a lot of money!

I have checked that he is on the law society register and have been to his office to sign the papers.
What else should I check?

I am a mortgage advisor and have also bought a few houses myself. I can confirm that this is perfectly normal. He need's the money in the company account to transfer to the vendors solicitor on day of completion or you will not be able to purchase the house.

you will need to transfer the funds into his CLIENT account so that he can make the purchase and transfer the funds - that way the money remains yours until the purchase is made and he has to invoice you separately for his fees.

Solicitor here. This is completely and utterly normal and happens every day of the week. Don't worry about it at all. You can ask for it back at any time (at the risk of delaying your purchase of course).

if there will be a delay before the funds are transferred, ask for it to be in the interest bearing client account.
