What you pay and who's good really depend where you live. We had 3 quotes between £6000 and £8400 for 15 windows (incl 2 bays - so 3 windows per bay) and 3 doors with fan lights over. I remember the doors were quoted at roughly £995 per door + fan light, if that helps. Oh and we're in outer London.

We ended up going for the most expensive company (bargained down to £7800), as they had been personally recommended to me and the quality was far better. When we went to see the £6K place's showroom, the windows on sale had rough bits sticking out of joints and joins in the frame were straight cuts, not mitred. Also the quality/heat-efficiency of the glass varied from C to A+9. So it seemed to us that you get what you pay for.

We were also advised not to go to the huge, hard-sell, buy 1 get 1 free, quote £20K but 'reduce' to £15K after consulting with 'manager' type of chains, so all quotes were from local companies, who came, quoted, left and only spoke to us afterwards when we ccontacted them with queries IYSWIM.
