Bounds Green anyone?

Hi all,

We've just seen a lovely house in Bounds Green we're thinking of buying. Now, I know it's not the most exciting place in the world but it's seems pleasant and quiet. Can anyone tell me any more about it? DS is only six months so not a pressing concern but what are the local primary schools like?
Can't afford Ally Pally but Bounds Green seems similarly nice, tbh-where's the catch??

Dunno about schools but I have friends there and they like it-should be fine they know London so it must be ok

A friend of mine has just bought the area and likes it a lot. Pleasant and quiet is about right. Good transport with tube and rail. She's also lived in London for years so has good judgement. She wouldn't know about schools though so can't help there.

Used to live in Bounds Green - don't know about schools but otherwise:

Plus points:
Tube and rail station so very convenient for commuting
Quiet
Some nice period houses
Good takeaway pizza by the station
Sunshine garden centre
Near Muswell Hill for nice shops
Relatively cheap

Minus points:
Nothing, and I mean nothing there - it's just a couple of random shops by the tube station
Near various shitholes including Wood Green (urgh) and the dodgy bit up towards the North Circular

Generally I would say pretty safe but incredibly dull!

Thanks all. Meg I'll go with pleasant but dull if I can afford a house there. It's about the only part of London where I can!

I second what EightiesChick and Meg said: my sister lived in BG for years and it's exactly as they've described it. It feels quiet and suburban.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about schools in that area either though.

Care to share a link to the house?

There used to be a good soft play place, not sure if still there. Great grocery stores and bakeries especially if you like Turkish and Greek food. Ditto Restaurants. Ice skating at Alexandra Palace, shops and good cinema in Muswell Hill.
