Are mirrored wardrobes safe for small children?

We're doing our back bedroom as a guest room and I would like mirrored/partially mirrored doors as we have no full-length mirrors in the house as yet. But expecting our first child and I thought kids and mirrors were a bit dangerous. DH says it's fine as glass is toughened these days? Does anyone have any experience of this, thanks for your help.

My Mum used to have them in the room my son and I used to live in (inbetween houses). He was 14 months at the time and was fine with them. Unless you are like my mother and cannot handle 1 finger print on the mirror.
