I have a friend who has moved to Farnham, and is very happy there - has met lots of people already (has two young DC and is at home with them).

When we visited there were nice restaurants to walk to and places to go for country walks, plus train to London.

Is it Farnham or Farnham common your friend has moved to?

It is v close to Burham beeches which is lovely. However, I always feel it feels like the bit between Beaconsfield and Slough rather than a distinctive place in its own right.

I think visavis is right about no distinct feel, but a great village. Variety of restaurants- if you can escape the littlies, library with a surestart centre and 2 toddler groups that meet so a great chance to meet other mums.
The Burnham Beeches is also a great way for the little ones to expend energy
Hope this helps
