Paint says touch dry 5-6hrs.
Recoat after 14-16

when they are dry! It depends on all sorts of factors, including the style of your windows and where you plan to paint them (eg if they are sashes and you are not painting the internal bits of the frame then they are actually better off loosely closed, rather than having the sashes resting against the wet external bits).

Be aware that you will need to keep running them up and down even after the paint feels touch dry, as the paint can kind of fuse even when it feels fully dry.

Thanks. They are 'modern' side hinged windows about 15yrs old.

I guess I am asking how late in the day I can paint them so I can close them before bed. I will open them again the next day. It is the outside I am painting.

P.s. glad I didn't do them today cos it absolutely hammered it down this afternoon.

I'd just do it as early as possible. You'll probably be fine closing them gently after 6 hours but the longer the better.

I'm sure I read somewhere you can put parchment/baking paper all along the join, where the window shuts, so it doesn't stick if not properly dry iykwim.
