Moving to Poynton.

Hello,
We are considering relocating to Poynton - we have 3 children 5, 3 and 6 months. Is it a good place to live? how is it for children - schools, activities etc?

I know a few people who have moved there, and to surrounding areas. Seems to be very popular with families, good schools and close to countryside. Where are you moving from? We recently relocated to the NW and really like it up here.

Thanks. Moving from South Sheffield area - other side of peak district so don't want to be far away from countryside but without living too remote. Poynton seems a good bet, but keen to hear from fellow mums if it is good for kids and friendly for newcomers?!

Ooh I went to a big agricultural show there a couple of years ago. It was really good, and the cows all seemed to be very shiny, if that's a good sign of a nice place to live .

I live quite close by and am moving to Hazel Grove soon - Poynton is lovely but the only negative I know about is that traffic is a nightmare as they always seem to be doing roadworks in the centre of Poynton - it may not bother you if you don't need to commute far for work etc.

Can anyone tell me if there are any Footytotz classes in Poynton, Adlington area?

It's a nice place - lots of families and a good community feel.

I live ten minutes' drive away and work nearby so I do our food shopping there on my way home. The roadworks should soon be gone as the airport relief road is nearing completion. It has a pretty good high street with independent shops, some restaurants and pubs, a Waitrose and there's an Aldi and a small Morrison's round the corner. It's about ten minutes from M&S and Tesco at Handforth Dean and JL and Sainsbury's are a bit further away. Macclesfield is a 20 minutes drive away and there are buses and a railway station. It's close to Stockport. Getting to the motorway network can be a pain, but there are several possible routes.

It has a mix of houses from huge multi-million pound places to a large early 70s estate around the high school and older cottages and terraces.

Traffic can be a pain through Poynton at peak times, but there are ways of avoiding this.

When we were looking for a house, one we were really interested in (in Disley) was being sold by a family moving to Poynton to give their kids more to do without having to be driven everywhere.

I dont see that as a problem Wowfudge -- all good to look back and see if same issues are still there ie ROADWORKS for 7 year!!!!
