Anyone with knowledge of Upminster, Essex?

Is it a nice place to live? Are there nicer or not so nice areas within Upminster? What are the schools like? Any info gladly received! Have only been to the area twice and it seems really nice! Thanks!

Upminster is nice but the houses are ludicrously overpriced. I've lived there on and off for 30 years and although the town is quite vibrant and has good schools (Coopers and Hallmead especially) it has gone downhill in recent years. There are some much nicer areas around such as Brentwood and Ongar where you?ll get much better value for money.

My father has lived there for nearly 40 years. It has good points transport good variety of shops. My dad is paraniod about burglars but I think its relatively safe. It is a good base , check out ofsted for schools.

The reason we are looking at upminster is for the transport links into London. Whilst house prices are high they are much lower than in London! Thanks for the info about schools, will look at the ofsted reports too.
