Have just started to advertise our old house for rent. It's been rented before by BIL, but now it's on the open market it needs to be done properly. Would you mind taking a look and letting me know what you think of the pics etc? Thanks.

k, constructive criticism right?

pic of outdoors is ok, pic of kitchen is ok, but the others aren't great. too grainy, don't make the rooms look as nice as they could IMO.
number 3 is just a corner of the room... i think i would try and take a pic of as much room as you can get in from the front door (that way you get the fireplace as well)
I'd like to see more of the garden, it just looks a bit overgrown and tiny in that pic, although i can see there is more beyond...
and bedrooms! i would want pics of bedrooms!

was just saying to a friend earlier (i am househunting right now) that i hate ads on rightmove that are stingy on pics... the more pictures the better IMO!

also, can you add a floorplan?

Thanks thisis. So, the more pics the better? Do you think a floorplan is needed? Houses are all pretty similar in layout in this area.

but yeah I guess if a lot of the houses are very similar in layout then maybe not?

Pictures 2/3 of the living room need to be retaken-
The taker is obviously almost on the ceiling trying to get a wide shot, makes the room look very small. also the sofa is a bit messy and the wall art/ornaments on the chimney piece should be taken down.

The picture of the garden is fully obstructed by pot plants and some greenery. I can just about see the garden furniture. Clear all that and get 2/3 good pictures of the garden from both ends.

House is very nice btw.

No no, criticism is needed! It is lovely and we miss it, but had to move away...
Just realised I don't have any pics of the front room (also has fireplace). I guess this might be a good idea. Garden is looking less good at the moment, not sure I want pics of it on the internet until it has grown back!

The interior photos are a little too dark to show off the rooms properly.
Is street view an option?......I would be interested in the street for parking, etc,.

Street view hasn't quite made it up the street, but good idea. BIL is going to take new pics (but with his transient furniture). DH took these pics without me, I think he used a pretty rubbish camera. Does the bathroom one need re-doing, do you think?

Another picture of the garden so you can see it, and pictures taken at floor level, nice house otherwise. A floor plan would be useful but then again I love floor plans.

Try a low down photo of the bathroom to show off big window, light, etc. Almost sit in your bath to get the perspective!

I would take the first two pics from the doors, not take pics of the doors, makes the rooms look smaller I think, nice house btw!

Thanks all. The pics are taken from doors (but are also of doors!) - lots of doors in the house!

It looks very nice, although I would move all the personal items ie wallhangings, pics, kitchen stuff especially that on the square shelving. Wish it was that cheap to rent round here!

If you're renting unfurnished I'd be tempted to move the coffee table out the way in the living room photos, it will make the room look bigger (not sure if that's BIL's transient furniture or not but anything he can move out will make it look bigger).

I agree the garden shot looks like just a few leaves.

It does look like a lovely house though and if I was looking to rent in the area I'd definitely go for a viewing based on those details.

Remove pretty much all ornaments, stuff on walls, stuff on kitchen surfaces. Honestly, it needs to look almost as if no-one lives there

As others have said, take photos from a more normal level. Point the photo mostly towards a window, not a door. Turn lights on if necessary.

Bedroom photos would be nice, but not necessary. Dimensions of bedrooms are important though.

I wouldn't usually expect a floor plan for a rental.
