Anybody out there have a 'solid surface' composite worktop?

A little bit Shock about the price of silestone / quartz worktops. We've been quoted £5k for our new kitchen.

Trying to find a good quality worktop at a cheaper price and my MIL mentioned Maia worktops - which I've since found out are 'solid surface' worktops. I've read some really bad reviews of these types of worktops (on a kitchen blog) and wanted to ask if any of you have one and if so, how hardwearing you've found them.

On another note, can anyone recommend any different worktops that I should look into.

Thank you!
