What to use to paint exterior pebbledash?

Roller? Brush? Some special thing I don't know about?

Do I have to wash the wall first?

we used a large masonary brush and sandtex smooth paint,ours is very nobbly so a roller wouldnt do it

didnt wash it , but brushed off cob webs and things first

Thanks. Any tips for getting a nice clean edge? I'm guessing masking tape won't work so well.

just a steady hand but that was dh job.i just did the low easy bits.
