My instinct is that 60cm wide is best because it stores more. But is 40cm better for ebing able to get at everything? Need to decide as could have either. Thanks

In our old flat we had a 30cm one which was great. It was a small kitchen, so 30cm was the only size we could squeeze in. I'd have loved a wider one though.
In our new house, the new kitchen is going to have a 60cm larder.
I'd go for the 60cm one if I were you.

A 60cm rack full of food will be quite heavy - how about separate internal drawers/wire racks? you can easily get at each one then.

That's what I was thinking really, pull out door but with drawers inside

we have two really thin low ones, one either side of the cooker. They are great. We store sauces and condiments in one and tea and coffee and squash in the other. The only thing that is annoying is that because they are wire trays, the bottles and jars don't stand up very easily.

We have a 60cm one in our ikea kitchen. It is fabbetty. About 5 wire rack drawers inside. Holds loads and looks great and always gets compliments from mates (most of whom have far more expensive kitchens!).

mine is 60 cm and it can get too heavy

I don't like the wire racks

What goes in the wire racks??

If only 2 drawers attached to door in shouldn;t get too heavy should it? 40cm would probably look better as gives more worktop space.

I've got a 60cm wire one. It's shit. We originally filled it with all the jars and tins but it was so heavy the door would slide open. It's now used for cereals, packets and biscuits so not much cop.
My mum has the idea slide out draw one which is so much better, its massive with loads of tins in and each shelf opens separately.

It would be interestring to know the brands/prices of the ones that don't/do open easily when heavily laden.

Used to have a 30cm one in old house and hated it. It felt rickety, wobbled too much especially when filled with heavy goods - horrible. Have gone for internal drawers this time.
