Amtico or similar - advice?

We're putting in a new kitchen and like the idea of slate or tiled flooring but would rather something a bit warmer/more forgiving. I've been looking at Amtico online - just wondering if anyone has this? It seems pricey but would be willing to go for it if it is sufficiently hard-wearing for a house with two toddlers, a labrador and lots of muddy feet!

Any thoughts or alternative suggestions appreciated :)

Amtico is very good, as is Karndean - both very hard-wearing in my experience (work in an independent flooring retailer). Cavalio is also new to the market place and appears very good (have just fitted it in our en-suite), but as it is so new I can't comment on how good it will look in 5 yrs plus.

I think it's great. Everyone assumes it's real wood unless they really look and it's incredibly practical.

We have Camaro Polyflor which is similar to Karndean/Amtico - slightly cheaper but same ballpark. Very good - looks very similar to stone tiles, but easier to clean, warm underfoot and if you drop something its not going to smash automatically!

You can order samples online for free from these places so might be worth getting some just for a peek!
