House sales a new method of human torture...discuss

I swear selling a house should be categorised and recognised as an official tortured method and be banned under some sort of international convention, frowned upon by serious-looking people in the UN, and a hot topic for Human Rights lawyers.

Just exchange already you bunch of procrastinating idiots people... Gah! Confused

I agree, £700 is WAY too much. You may as well just buy new if you were prepared to pay that much!

I would just apologise & say that while you would love to have them you are stretched to the limit yourselves & at this time cannot afford any extra expenditure. Chances are they will leave them anyway..

alliwant · 30/06/2011 19:07

Thanks sparkle I was going to offer £400, but I like your approach.... I may just go with that, they have 2 small children and are they really going to go through the hassle of taking each one down and packing it?? Their house is bursting with crap as it is! If they take them, they do but like you said for £700 we may as well buy our own....

Any more come backs on the the silly offer??

ANYONE would forgive you for being a complete mess in a situation like that. Agents are gits and they don't even care that they are gits.

Best of luck for tomorrow. Let us know?

SparklePrincess · 30/06/2011 22:34

Shit! Im so sorry to hear that smalltownshame. What a total nightmare for you. I will be thinking of you tomorrow & hoping that all is finalised ok. Big hugs x x x

No further comeback on the silly offer yet alliwant. Let them look round & see what 160k doesn't buy them, then they can come back, if nobody else has offered beforehand. The couple that looked same day as them are v keen, but not as yet in a position to proceed. We also have another viewer on Monday, but technically they're tourists because their own place isn't on the market yet. We'll see.... Fingers crossed

mashpot · 01/07/2011 21:04

Glad you had a happy ending smalltown!

Thanks for good wishes everyone. Delighted to report back that we finally exchanged on our purchase and will move on Thursday - so long as we don't end up in the same situation as smalltown! 20 weeks so also had to get through this without any Wine Shock

Good luck alliwant

alliwant · 01/07/2011 21:15

Yey! smalltown thats brilliant, you can let the stress wash away now Grin

Thanks mashpot I have been reassured again that everything is in place and as soon as the cert arrives we will exchange. Plus our mortgage got approved today - perhaps it really will all fall into place!

Just hope these painful braxton Hicks are not a sign of early labour......

alliwant · 01/07/2011 21:15

mashpot Great news for you too, good luck for next Thurs x

fourstickymitts · 01/07/2011 22:59

Okay, I must owe karma something. My house officially hates me!! Two days after exchange, the shower breaks. Tonight the f*cking oven just broke.

The latest on my own personal nightmare is that we have another viewing booked for Thursday with someone who is actually "under offer" Woo Hoo! Fingers crossed this is the one. We have seen a house we like. Its wildly overpriced, & currently has a shower room with no bath. Its in a lovely location though & gives us the sensible size third bedroom that's so elusive & a largish garden. :) It has been on the market almost 3 months already & the vendor admitted we were the first ones to view. The agent says to disregard the asking price & "try an offer" Just waiting for some movement with mine now.

Fimbo · 05/07/2011 16:51

Hope you are ok fourstickymitts.

Good luck SP for Thursday.

SparklePrincess · 05/07/2011 17:08

Thanks Fimbo. :)

CristinaTheAstonishing · 05/07/2011 17:12

We put an offer today at 9.30, still waiting to hear from the EA. I've just about had enough of this whole house buying business.

4stickymitts - I hope your luck changes for the better.

SparklePrincess · 05/07/2011 21:19

Everything crossed. :)
