Getting money together to do work on our house. I don't think we'll stay in it forever as it's pretty small, so I'm keen that the work we do will add value.

At the moment our ground floor is all one rectangular room, having been knocked through years ago. The house is a 1930s terrace, and originally it would have had a living room, plus a tiny dining room and a tiny kitchen.

I want to separate the room into two decent sized spaces. I prefer the dining bit to be part of the kitchen, but don't want to commit to that if most people want a lounge/diner. What do you think?

Kitchen diner!!! Hate the idea of a kitchen in the lounge...no hiding from the washing up!! Grin

Kitchen diner deffo.

Our last house had a lounge diner, as a result the dining room became a passage and was rarely used (except for meal times). This house we have a kitchen diner and we use it so much more. Would prefer another kitchen diner if we moved again too. Much better imho.

Blimey, unanimous indeed. Although it would have been immaterial without PacificDogwood's vote, of course. Grin

Kitchen/Diner definately. I live in a house with a lounge/diner and hate it

SparklePrincess · 21/06/2011 16:18

If the house is that small how about keeping it open plan? A lot of houses have open plan living/dining/kitchen areas these days. I quite like it. Otherwise the kitchen/diner is the most cost effective option. :)

I get fed up with cooking smells going everywhere, not being able to have the telly and the washing machine on at the same time, and having DD's manky high chair next to the record collection!
Mostly though, I'd like to not be facing the washing up when I'm watching Family Fortunes. Grin
